Amanda Cook asked me:
How do I trust my intuition more? And make sure I'm discerning between my intuition and fear/ego talking!
I dig into how to trust intuition more in the book. Meanwhile here is what came to me:
★ A decision journal helps you see how it helped.
★ When you TLC (To the Light, Connect) you will hear your intuition over your fear.
★ To tell if it is your intuition or fear talking check in with your body – how do you feel with this info? If open/expansive/peace/love – it “rings’ true then it is intuition. If you contract/feel small/anxious/fear then it is fear talking.
What is a decision journal and how can I use it?
What would it take for you to trust your intuition twice as much as you do already? I know you already use your intuition in your work. You could use it more in your work, more in your business. The more you trust it, the more results you’ll get. Related to trusting it, keep a journal of decisions you’ve made. How have you made the decisions? Then come back to it in future months and see how did things work out. Which things worked, which things didn’t.
An intuition journal really provides the proof that “Look, I used my intuition here and it did work.” It helps you build that trust. This is especially true for those of us who get stuck in our heads. I am sure that you had that moment when you thought “I should’ve do that instead of this. If only I trusted my gut more…” That gut feeling is your intuition telling you something. Through decision journal you just might empirically learn from your mistakes and start building that trust.
That can help give you more confidence in your ability. I encourage you to trust yourself. So many of us have self-doubt educated into us in schools and through parenting. The more you can delete that self-doubt and trust your own inner knowing the more successful you can be and the more inspirational you can be to your clients.
TLC- To The Light, Connect
Very important step in the process is to visualize. Some call it setting goals, plans etc. But DO visualize every day!
You have to be ready and open to hearing your intuition speaking. This is what Business owner Dan Englander says:
“Connecting To The Light (visualization exercise) to open the mind and heart to intuitive inspiration. Being in a positive, open, solution-oriented emotional space is crucial to accessing your genius.”
TLC yourself, connect your heart to it and visualize your intent words going into it. One way of doing this is to meditate. But, it can be anything you feel comfortable doing- jogging, listening to music etc. make sure that this makes you feel more positive and full of energy.
How can I tell if that is intuition speaking or fear?
This is the second thing where decision journal comes in handy. Over time, you can, and you will learn how to differentiate those two. Fear is usually a reaction coming from uncertainty, especially in business. When faced with a new challenge, milestone, or client it is natural to feel different. How will you react is where it makes all the difference.
Is it me or ME reacting?
Ego is an important part of us. We all have it. At least let’s agree that we disagree.
When I connect all of the previous said, ego is the only part where you might stop and think for a moment. It is easy to fall into that trap if you don’t have enough experience in dealing with yourself and your emotions. One does not need to exclude ego from actions. Sometimes I wonder if that’s even possible… It is very important fuel for our actions and can be used for good purposes.
Now, let’s return to our trusted journal. This is the part where you are honest with yourself (I hope). Assess your actions and TLC yourself again. What does it tell you?
If it looks like you are running in circles, that’s probably true.
The whole life is a cycle.
Why not make it work for you?
